The aim of this collaboration is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge between POLDER, namely the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) and the Informatics Institute (IvI), and the RIVM. A PhD student will be recruited at the RIVM to work on a specific use case for the application of computational modelling. In addition, a post-doctoral researcher will be recruited at the UvA, co-financed by the RIVM, to carry out fundamental research. To ensure further knowledge exchange, the parties will participate in joint workshops and events at the respective institutes. Finally, the RIVM will seek a candidate for a policy fellowship at the IAS.
The collaboration will start in early 2025 and last for four years, with a budget of around one million euros. Mike Lees and Vítor Vasconcelos are the principal investigators of the project. Synergies will be sought with other projects on social tipping points, and are likely to lead to the pooling of efforts into a thematic research group.
