In compliance with the current health and safety guidelines we have gradually restarted our activities on site, focussing on small-scale interdisciplinary meetups. Working from home will remain the norm. Selected fellows get priority in our reopening plans but have to be aware that the current situation limits our possibilities to foster on-site interaction.

The Institute for Advanced Study is currently open as a place for interaction and collaboration in small groups for 2 days per week. When booking small-scale sessions, please be aware that our largest room can safely accommodate 8 people.

To book and organise a small-scale session:

  • Submit a proposal including: topic, format/programme outline, expected participants, preferred date and timeslot, catering requirements.
  • Each group has to appoint a coordinator for the meeting, who ensures that the health and safety protocol is adhered to.
  • After approval, the IAS Office Manager will contact the coordinator to plan the session and discuss the health and safety protocol (including a tour at the venues, if needed).
  • Please forward your request to ias@uva.nl (preferably two weeks) prior to gathering.

Fellowships

Selected fellows get priority in our reopening plans, but have to be aware that the current situation limits our possibilities to foster on-site interaction and spontaneous encounters. Uncertainty of having to shift to a more (or less) restricted scenario remains, since new measures and restrictions can be imposed at all times. We are open to postpone the period of the fellowship and/or discuss alternative ways to get involved in the IAS community (e.g. engage remotely, or a combination of online and on-site). In any case, fellows keep the right to do (or finish) their fellowship in Amsterdam.
