The appointment will allow Van der Maas to accelerate research on complex systems in the social and behavioural sciences in general. And more specifically, he will focus on polarisation and radicalisation (within and between people), and on addiction.

As Faculty Professor Van der Maas will build and expand interdisciplinary collaborations within the faculty and across the university, as well as with external partners.
