Claiming back deep work

A book you’ve been meaning to read. An article that needs revising. A blank notebook waiting for an argument to take shape.

Deep thinking and focused work are at the heart of academic life. Yet meetings, emails and everyday demands too often leave little room for either.

Futures Reframed Foundation and IAS Amsterdam invite you to reclaim that room. Writing Wellness for Academics offers a day of working together in silence and sustained concentration, with a free vegetarian lunch and a short, inspiring talk.

Bring something you want to give your full attention to. Read, write, revise or think - in the company of others doing the same. No pressure to produce a particular output: just protected time to engage deeply with your work.

We are organising three standalone days; you can join without committing to all three.

Participation is free. Places are very limited, so register early.
