On June 27, 2022, the Council for Public Administration (Raad van Openbaar Bestuur, ROB) published the collection of essays 'Science and Public Policy. A tense relationship'. ROB will follow up with the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) of the University of Amsterdam: after all, the relationship between science and public policy is an all-time theme but now more important than ever. About 20 people will meet on Monday, December 5, to further explore, deepen and continue thinking about and shaping the relationship between science and public policy.
Event details of Science and public policy: a tense relationship
Date
5 December 2022
Time
13:30 -16:30

The group will discuss whether a stronger "binding" of legislation to science is needed, and in what ways this might be done best. They will explore whether a more diverse and experimental legislation is required, and how they can pay attention to behaviour and let the effects of legislation play a greater role in policy. Furthermore, to deal with future issues that require science and policy they will discuss how to strenghten imagination.

This is an invitational meeting.
