My research

My research investigates how deep privatization—through contract networks, platform governance, and algorithmic infrastructures—restructures power, accountability, and equity in contemporary schooling, and what these shifts mean for democracy and the public good. The work is interdisciplinary, blending political economy, sociology, public administration, comparative education, and data science. Central to the project is comparative fieldwork, examining empirical anchors in the US, the Netherlands, and Germany, with a focus on contracts, digital infrastructures, and regulatory frameworks shaping education systems globally.

IAS Fellowship

During my IAS fellowship, I will address the central question: How do emerging forms of deep privatization, facilitated by networks of contracts, platforms, and algorithmic infrastructures, impact equity, accountability, and the structure of public education? The fellowship will involve network mapping of procurement flows, policy tracing, and qualitative analysis of fieldwork data.

My aim is to produce comparative evidence illuminating how privatization reshapes education systems and develops actionable insights to support accountability, equity, and democratic oversight in evolving educational infrastructures. Activities include interdisciplinary seminars and workshops bridging education privatization and platform studies, and fostering collaboration within the IAS community.
