My research
My research focuses on a wide scope of military and security operations, varying from air defense, ground combat modeling, intelligence to logistics modeling, including strategic/operational ammunition requirements. Furthermore I am interested in analysing criminal and terrorist behavior using a complex networks approach.
My fellowship (Oct 2017 - Sep 2018)
At the IAS I will engage with a diverse group of researchers. This will help me to move closer to my goal of understanding mechanisms driving agents’ behavior in criminal activity. It allows me to get new insights from the fundamental research on complex systems.
Together with a team of UvA researchers and external stakeholders, we will assess the potential of creating a simulation model for non-compliant, criminal and terrorist behaviour.
Current involvement with IAS
Ana Isabel Barros is currently as an external researcher still affiliated to the IAS as part of the team working on Complexity & Resilience of Organised Crime Systems.
