In this interdisciplinary expert meeting several experts will explore the intersection between medical research and clinical practice from a complexity science perspective.
Event details of Complexity and uncertainty in medical research and clinical practice
Date
28 November 2024

There is growing concern that the way medical practice guidelines are developed and implemented does not reflect the complexity of clinical practice and may result in suboptimal care. And a growing call for acknowledging and engaging with uncertainty in research and in medical decision making. The aim of this meeting is to exchange views and ideas on these topics, share ongoing initiatives and explore alternative approaches together.

More details and a formal agenda will be disseminated in September 2024. Confirmed participants include clinicians, patient representatives, philosophers, translational researchers, epidemiologists, and members from organizations such as Zorgevaluatie en Gepast Gebruik, Zorginstituut Nederland, the Rathenau Instituut, the Federatie Medisch Specialisten, the Institute for Health Systems Science, and the Raad voor Volksgezondheid en Samenleving.
