Health and the Environment: concepts, methods, and policy (on-site)

As we are transitioning through a post-pandemic phase, the question of how health and the environment are linked and relate to each other is as urgent as ever. Within IAS, Human Health Complexity and Coupled Human and Natural worlds has been explored and proposed as an approach to understanding and intervening on health, acknowledging complex nature of health and disease and starting a dialogue with the policy world.

In this workshop, we continue these conversations by bringing in a specific set of questions: How is health linked to the environment? How are the biological and social environment interconnected? How to inform policy on the basis of complex understandings of health and environment? How to complement the widespread evidence-based approach? The transition from concepts to policy is especially delicate, and we will have the opportunity to learn from Prof. Nancy Cartwright, who has been leading the debates around evidence-based approaches to policy.
