My research

I currently focus on the intersection between different branches of EU and supervisory law, including competition, consumer and financial regulation, and how to ensure their effective implementation at European level.

I would be discussing the following questions: How to approach from a regulatory perspective the question of interdisciplinary enforcement of EU laws in increasingly complex markets?

New market developments - including the increased digitalization and interconnection of economic sectors - mean that different pieces of EU law can be breached simultaneously by companies’ behaviors (e.g. competition, consumer, data protection and financial supervisory law). This means that there is a need to enhance the cooperation between different regulators and authorities to ensure the EU and national enforcement of EU laws remains effective. However, enforcement is often done in silos and without sufficient consideration of the impact of a given action on the areas of competences of other authorities, leading to fragmented or incomplete results.
