My research

In my current research, I use data from the Northern Finland Birth Cohort 1986 (NFBC1986) to investigate how early-life experiences—including childhood adversity, family environment, and developmental factors—shape self-compassion, compassion, socio-emotional functioning, and weight-related outcomes across the life course, with a particular focus on eating disorders and overweight and obesity. Alongside these analyses, I evaluate the psychometric properties of key psychological measures in NFBC1986 to support robust measurement in future research and clinical applications.

IAS Fellowship 

During my IAS fellowship, I address a central question: How can advanced network analysis methods (e.g., panel network analysis), be applied to longitudinal cohort data to capture and model the temporal dynamics and interrelations among psychological constructs?

My research aligns closely with the IAS research theme of Health Complexity and draws on data from the Northern Finland Birth Cohort 1986 (NFBC1986), which enables the investigation of developmental and temporal dynamics across the life course. Within this context, I examine how network dynamics relate to mental health over time.

During my stay at IAS, I will have the opportunity to collaborate with leading scientists in the field, Professors Denny Borsboom and Claudi Bockting, and researchers including Drs. René Freichel, Lourens Waldorp, Riet van Bork, and Tessa Blanken, whose expertise informs the project's statistical modelling.
