The IAS is located in the beautiful city centre of Amsterdam, one of Europe’s cultural and intellectual capitals. Its two buildings were designed by architect Philip Vingboons in 1642.

At our institite each floor has its own style. The rooms and facilities are specifically designed to stimulate interaction, enable collaboration and spark creativity. We have desks for research fellows and visiting researchers (20), and areas for meetings, conversations and events (up to 35 participants).
