Here you can read how we involve talented Master's students in our activities.
Yearly we offer 7-10 outstanding Master’s students the opportunity to write their final thesis at the institute. You will work alongside renowned researchers and highly talented early-career scholars. The best and most original thesis will be awarded with a prize.
Candidates should be enrolled full-time in a master’s programme at the UvA. The selection is based on academic excellence, motivation, personal skills and thesis topic. In order to be eligible for this opportunity, your thesis should be focussed on a challenging scientific question/societal challenge that is studied from an interdisciplinary, complexity perspective.
We occasionally have positions for student assistants at the IAS (paid), mostly as part of our research themes. Alternatively, students can be involved as part of their own curriculum (ECTS), for example: thesis projects or interships.
The course Complexity: can it be simplified? is a joint effort by the IAS and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (IIS).
