Here you can read how we involve talented Master's students in our activities.
Yearly we offer 10 outstanding Master’s students the opportunity to write their final thesis at the institute. You will work alongside renowned researchers and highly talented early-career scholars. The best and most original thesis will be awarded with a prize.
Candidates should be enrolled full-time in a master’s programme at the UvA. The selection is based on academic excellence, motivation, personal skills and thesis topic. In order to be eligible for this opportunity, your thesis should be focussed on a challenging scientific question/societal challenge that is studied from an interdisciplinary, complexity perspective.

The next call is expected in October 2019.
We occasionally have positions for student assistants at the IAS, mostly as part of our research themes. Click here to read a short interview with student assistant Jonathan Jeroen Beekman.
The course Complexity: can it be simplified? is a joint effort by the IAS and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (IIS).
