The UvA Simulation-based Science (SbS) community is back! It brings together researchers from across all university departments to advance expertise on simulation-based methods. On 22 January, we kicked off this year's series of weekly workshops, panels and lectures. We have created a website, where you can find all active SbS-members and the event calendar.
The mission of the simulation-based science community is to help promote and support the use of simulation in all fields of science. We do this through weekly Friday meetings (online for now) that incorporate scientific talks and debate. Our aim is to provide interesting content for experienced simulation researchers and offer opportunities for those curious to learn more about ways simulation can aid in their research.
We are happy to present our new SbS community website. It contains short profiles of all active SbS members. Members can now be found based on their expertise, position, faculty, research methods and specific research themes. This makes it possible for members to find the expertise they are looking for and make collaboration between members more fluid. The event calendar can also be found on the website, making it easy to stay up to date on all planned events.
2021 promises to be an eventful year for the Simulation-based Science community. We have prepared a programme that includes exciting talks from within the UvA and beyond. On January 22nd, we kicked off our weekly SbS-meetings online. We hope that at some time in 2021 we will be able to move back to our regular on-site meetings at the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS). In these informal gatherings you can bring your issues to discuss, help others to find solutions for their projects, exchange ideas and meet new people. It’s an ideal way to meet like-minded researchers from across the university to share ideas and engage in lively scientific discussion.
