IAS research fellow Sacha Epskamp will be organising a satellite event on Complexities of Adverse Behaviour at the Conference on Complex Systems (CCS) 2019 in Singapore.

This event will zoom in on a particularly harmful aspect of human behaviour: the tendency of people to behave in manners that are not necessarily healthy nor beneficial. This includes pressing topics such as substance use and abuse, self-harm and suicidal ideation - behaviours often coupled with mental health problems. Further topics could include the anti-vaccination movement and accepting fake news.

This one-day event will take place on October 2, 2019, at the Nanyang Technological Institute. It will include a mixture of senior keynote speakers, junior invited speakers, and contributed talks. The aim is to involve speakers from diverse backgrounds in order to maximise the potential of starting a multidisciplinary discussion on these pressing issues.
