The Institute for Advanced Study is proud to present a new member of its Scientific Advisory Board: David Krakauer.
Professor Krakauer is President of the famous Sante Fe Institute (SFI) for Complexity Science in New Mexico. His research focuses on the evolution of intelligence on earth - from cells to societies. Given the emphasis on complex systems methodology in the IAS work program, this extension of the Scientific Advisory Board is a crucial step in the further development of the IAS. With the involvement of professor Krakauer, the IAS opens up new vistas to strengthen its interdisciplinary research using methods, theory and concepts from complexity science. At the IAS researchers will work collaboratively on Big Questions ‘understanding that the right question is just as important as the right answer’ (SFI quote).
