My research includes studying the various emergent behaviours exhibited by complex adaptive systems such as phase transitions, tipping points, and controllability, using information theory and computational modeling approaches. My application domains are diverse and include marine and cell biology, financial markets and social systems.
What is the utility of information theory applied to different complex systems?
Seemingly very different complex systems may actually display the same emergent behavior. I believe information theory offers us a single framework to study all these different emergent behaviors. During my fellowship I hope to interact with a diversity of scientists with complexity questions to explore the utility of information theory applied to various domains. I look forward to an open atmosphere and wild ideas.
