In our quest to create new knowledge and find solutions for complex challenges, we collaborate with other research institutes, as well as with partners from industry and the public sector.
We are member of the worldwide network of University-Based Institutes for Advanced Study (UBIAS) and currently exploring to set up research partnerships with some sister institutes from the UBIAS network.
We closely collaborate with the following networks and institutes on complex systems research:
We are setting up a research partnership with the Netherlands Organisation for applied scientific research (TNO). The goal of the collaboration is to get a better understanding of complex phenomena, and create innovations for various pressing problems (among which energy transition, public health, and crime). Multiscale modelling of complex systems forms the core of the collaboration.
By combining our expertise with that of public and private sector organisations, we find ways to get a grip on complex challenges.
Working closely with the Dutch police, an interdisciplinary research team found a more effective way to destabilise cannabis networks: removing very specialised players rather than the most high-profile and seemingly influential criminals.
Through the IAS, you can get access to a wide variety of researchers from all across the UvA (and beyond). We create an open research environment where the academic community, business sector and public sector can jointly develop innovative solutions.
