A new type of fellowship grant in collaboration with the Amsterdam Brain and Cognition centre (ABC)
ABC members who wish to create and write a novel interdisciplinary research proposal on one of ABC's research themes, can apply for an ABC-IAS grant that allows them to spend time at the IAS and work in a small team of at least one ABC member and an international guest.
Writing grant proposals is a time‐consuming process, and the daily hassles not always allow researchers the time for a properly thorough and creative thought process. Some grant proposals are so ambitious, ground‐breaking, and away‐from‐core‐business that they cannot be prepared if daily responsibilities keep piling up.
In this initiative ABC and IAS join forces to facilitate the proces of grant writing by offering special fellowship positions for ABC members. With this grant we offer a time‐out to prepare an interdisciplinary grant proposal (to be submitted to NWO/EU or other funding agencies), in collaboration with at least one ABC member and an international guest.
The grant for each ABC member consists of €20k. This money can be used to finance any form of assistance, that can be used to enable the researcher to spend time at the IAS. In addition, it is possible to apply for funding (travel and accommodation costs, up to €10.000) to support the invitation of international collaborators. To start off this new grant, the ABC and IAS particularly welcome proposals on the theme of decision making in its broadest sense. Applications for the 2019 ABC‐IAS call should be submitted by October 15, 2018.
ABC‐IAS call site will go online in spring.
