21Apr2017 13:00 - 18:00

The IAS will host a Knowledge Café on Critical Transitions in Financial Systems. It is the first event under the research theme Tipping Points in Man-made vs. Natural systems.

Essays in nonlinear dynamics in economics and econometrics with applications to monetary policy and banking, Wolski M.

'How can we construct early warning indicators for, or even predict, and understand critical transitions in financial systems and financial markets?' and 'What can we learn from tipping points in natural systems?' are the main questions that scientific lead, Cees Diks wishes to explore. As current early warning indicators are inadequate, a deeper understanding is needed of the accrual of financial stress. This will lead to better insights in creating more effective early warning indicators to address current financial systems’ needs. This involves further investigation and better insights to the nature of financial stability and systemic risk in financial networks.
